Do You Really Know Who You Are?

Who are you?

Will you answer me with your profession? I’m an accountant. I’m a technical analyst. I’m a stay at home mother. I’m a student.

Incorrect.

Will you say something about your body? I’m Caucasian or Black or 24 or 73 years old. Will you say that you’re tall or short?

Who Are You

Not quite.

Maybe it will be your educational status? I’m a college graduate or I attended a technical school.

Nope.

You are much, much more...

Our culture is obsessed with weights and measures and other forms of classification.

When our children were born, the nurses were eager to take our babies away from my wife so they could be weighed and measured, as if this is more important than the love and bonding that naturally occurs between mother and child.

We’re all judged and graded from the earliest ages in compulsory school systems.

In business we’re frequently told that if it cannot measured than it doesn’t exist.

Really?

What is the measurement of love you have for your children?

At the end of your life what is the price of your sweetest memories?

Some call themselves a failure because they bought the story they were sold.

This the shiny image in the magazine or the flickering illusion on the flat-screen television.

The programming is incessant.

Your value and your identity transcends what your produce and what you consume.

There is something much greater outside the confines of the stadium, the old report card and beyond the pages of the magazine.

Who are you?

There is an inner-magnificence inside you. You can find it again if you try.

You are beyond all measure.

You are infinite.

You are Grace.

You are pure Love.

You can feel it again if you let go of the conditions, the categorizations and the judgments.

Even for a moment…

“You have no idea how hard I've looked for a gift to bring you. Nothing seemed right. What's the point of bringing gold to the gold mine, or water to the ocean. Everything I came up with was like taking spices to the Orient. It's no good giving my heart and my soul because you already have these. So I've brought you a mirror. Look at yourself and remember me.”
